Carol Joyce (Olson Johnson) Denruiter, 76, of Cloquet, MN died Sunday, December 31, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.
Carol was born April 14, 1941 in Brookston, MN to Beatrice (Higbee) and William Olson. She attended Carlton High School, and then went on to college to become a Head Start teacher. She lived in Cloquet her entire life, with the exception of time spent in Washington state. She worked at Fond-du-Lac and various other jobs in the area, retiring 12 years ago. Carol enjoyed reading, babysitting and playing with children. She loved to dance and listen to old country western music. She was a very happy-go-lucky person who loved meeting with friends, making new friends, and remembering the good old days!
Surviving Carol are her son, David (Chris) Johnson; daughters, Ann Johnson, Kim Johnson, Jazmine Johnson; stepchildren, Susan Farley, Mike Johnson; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Robert Welsand, Darrel Welsand; sisters, Diane Welsand, Judy DeMuth, Lou Thompon, Debbie Erickson, Victoria Macham, several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Carol in death were her two husbands Marvin and Hiram, 1 son Marvin Jr., her parents, stepfather Harry, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, and 2 stepdaughters.
A wake will begin Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at the Sawyer Center in Cloquet. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., also at the Sawyer Center. Spiritual leaders will be Pastor Bill Sutter and Bryan Jon. Interment will be in Old Holy Family Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Souder-Handevidt Funeral & Cremation Services.
