Helen Violet Nelson of Cloquet, MN passed away on February 28, 2018. She was born on August 2, 1937 at the family farm on Maple Hill in Grand Marais, MN. Helen was the youngest daughter of 10 children. She retired from Viewcrest Nursing Home after working there for many years. Helen was a firecracker. She was a strong, hardworking, take no attitude kind of women who will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Helen loved her four girls and watching the family grow. She enjoyed playing guitar and singing with family. Music was a huge part of her life! She always had a dog; Benji was her favorite. Helen loved shopping. Most of all she loved visiting with family and friends. Everyone will remember Helen’s Weather Reports and News Updates.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents Adolph Everson and Celia (Johnson) Dickson. Husbands Norman Nelson and Andrew Powell. Brothers Oscar, Lloyd, Harry and Jerald Everson. Sisters Gladys Dockan, Dorothy Mattson and Ruth Everson. Grandson Cody Martin.
She is survived by her daughters Deborah Leal, Judy (Robert) Precord, Barbara Powell and Tammy (Mike) Martin. Sister Anna Speck and brother Wallace (Sandra) Everson. 10 Grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A gathering of friends and family will begin at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 7, 2018 and continue until the 11:00 AM Celebration of Life at Our saviors Lutheran Church, Cloquet, Minnesota. Inurnment will be held in the spring at New Calvary Cemetery, Cloquet.
