For nearly 70 years, Barr Brothers Funeral Home, Wefelmeyer Funeral Home, and Handevidt Funeral Home and Cremation Service served the Cloquet community and surrounding area in a tradition that placed great emphasis on providing a high degree of personalized service. Each has earned a reputation for quality and integrity, and each showed a strong commitment to the area through their community involvement.
Tim and Mary Handevidt, former owners of Barr Brothers, Wefelmeyer , and Handevidt funeral homes have retired from funeral service, and are proud to be a part of its heritage. The Handevidts consolidated two separate funeral home facilities into one in 2004, for the convenience of the families and the community they served.
New owner, Jerry Souder has made an additional and significant change. In an effort to reduce funeral costs to the families served without compromising quality, Souder has established the business as a funeral and cremation services arrangement center.
Souder-Handevidt Funeral and Cremation Services does not have a facility in which funeral and memorial services are held. We do provide a comfortable arrangement center where the family of the deceased can make final arrangements. We also have on-site preparation facilities. Services are then coordinated within churches, nursing home chapels and cemetery chapels to accommodate all traditions, faiths, and personal preferences.
Jerry and his staff will continue to maintain the tradition of quality and integrity long established by this facility and is committed to providing it to the community for many years to come.
